Holiday Cheers!
As Thanksgiving winds down, and I come down from my Turkey-induced coma, I begin to think (as I think most of you do) of all the Christmas activities that I have ahead of me: multiple Holiday parties with friends and coworkers; Christmas cookie baskets to be made and delivered; cards to be signed; endless wrapping and bow tying. It can get overwhelming if you try to take it all in at once.
With all of this activity, the one that I enjoy the most is the decoration of my Christmas tree. To be honest, some years I decorate the tree by myself (my Great Dane, Sinatra, gets overwhelmed by all of the boxes of ornaments being tossed about and heads for sanctuary in the basement, and after the tree is set up, my husband joins him). I enjoy unearthing ornaments that haven’t been seen for a year – surprised each time by the collection. I love the site of the decorated and lit tree from my front yard, lights twinkling - my house becoming a home. But as I delve deeper into the reasons I enjoy this annual tradition, I find I enjoy this because of two things that are pure Christmas cheesiness:
1. I can indulge in hours of Fa-la-la-la Lifetime movies guilt-free (everyone is too busy to guffaw over the corniness).
2.
The most important:
I can consume spiked Christmas punch or heart stopping eggnog as I decorate. The more I consume, I have noticed, the more sparkly and whimsical the tree.
As the punch, toddys, and eggnog provide fuel for me through the tree decorating (and the entire holiday season), I have compiled a list of mouth-watering, Christmas- flavored, dangerously easy to drink, liquid Holiday confections for you to enjoy as you navigate your way through this holiday season.
